5 Tips to Sleep With Hair Extensions

One of the most important things to know when caring for a hair extension is how to sleep comfortably without damaging the hair attachments. Even if it’s just one night, knowing how to work with extensions makes a difference.

1. Braid your hair

Braiding your hair is a great way to keep your extensions from tangling while you sleep. Use a gentle technique when braiding and use a hair tie to secure your braid in place. This is also a great way to achieve heatless waves, once you release your braid you will have soft waves.

2. Don’t sleep with wet hair

Sleeping with wet hair can cause your extensions to tangle so make sure to thoroughly dry your hair before going to bed. You should always make sure you thoroughly dry where the connections of your extensions are and don’t leave your hair to air dry.

3. Protect Your Extensions

If you have a Clip In Extensions make sure to remove them before you go to bed. When you purchase Clip-in extensions online or in the salon, we will give you a Vixen and Blush pouch which is the perfect place to keep your Clip Ins.

4. Tie Your Hair Up

You can tie it up in a loose bun or ponytail if you don’t want to braid your hair. We recommend low hairstyles when you have hair extensions, so you don’t over-direct your extensions. No high pony’s or buns allowed.

5. Invest in Silk or Satin Bedding

Silk or satin pillowcases and sheets are not just luxurious, they’re great for hair extensions! Their smooth surfaces reduce friction, which can cause hair breakage, tangling, and shedding. Cotton, on the other hand, can be quite abrasive and can cause friction that leads to these issues.
